Ascendigo is a growing Roaring Fork Valley based nonprofit that enhances the lives of children and adults living with Autism Spectrum Disorder through outdoor sports education, adventure camps, community integration and an array of autism focused behavioral health services. We are headquartered in Carbondale and provide programming from Aspen to Rifle.
Our Adventure camps are designed so that participants of all athletic abilities are set up for success. We pride ourselves in ensuring progress in our sports while having lots of fun. Current sports and outdoor programming include summer, fall, and winter camps, and individualized services. Our summer camp offers 8 residential weeks based at the CMC Spring Valley campus. Summer camp activities include hiking, climbing, river rafting, lake & boating sports, biking (mountain & road), horseback riding. Winter activities include week long winter camps, and private skiing and snowboarding lessons on the AspenSnowmass ski resort.

Support the Life Enrichment program in improving the lives of individual clients through the application of Ascendigo’s Life Enrichment life dimension care practices, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other competencies as required as directed by LE management and clinical services oversight. The Ascendigo Internship program is designed for college and post-graduate students across the country to gain access to high-level autism specific training that is evidence-based & state-of-the-art. This training includes the modalities of ABA, Behavior Psychology, Therapeutic & Adventure Recreation, combined with cutting-edge adaptive sports instruction. After intensive classroom and in-field training, and under the supervision of highly trained professionals; this unique educational program will allow interns to get “hands on” with people on the autism spectrum creating a fully immersive experience. This is an entry level position for those new to working with individuals with ASD, or for college students interested in fulfilling a summer internship. Students or recent graduates in Higher Educational programs related to ABA, OT, TR, Rec, SPED, Adaptive PE, etc. are highly encouraged to apply. As apart of this experience you will be able to receive midterm and final evaluations as per the requirements of your higher education guidelines. Room/board is provided at Colorado Mountain College. Coaches are paired with individuals on the autism spectrum and are responsible for facilitating the participants in their daily life skills, sports, and personal care. Room/board is provided at Colorado Mountain College. This position requires a minimum of one year experience working with individuals with ASD, a related field, or previously employed with Ascendigo. Lead Ascendigo Coaches are experienced employees who have significant experience working with special needs and high behavior ASD, as well as experience in a management/supervisory role. He/she is responsible for managing a team as well as caring for a participant. Lead instructors have extensive knowledge of Ascendigo’s core sports, methods, structure, and significant autism experience. This person will help with logistics, driving, and behavioral support. The lake program is a unique opportunity for our participants to engage in various water sports such as wake-boarding, water skiing, wake surfing, tubing, and more. We have three (3) wake-board boats in operation on any given day and are looking to fill the drivers’ seats with the right people. Volunteers are also wanted. The boat driver must be a minimum of 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. Some of the duties above and beyond driving the boat will be: towing the trailers, dropping the boats in the water, routine maintenance and cleaning, organizing gear, etc. It is essential that you are a team player and have experience towing people behind the boat. The ranch program is a unique opportunity for our participants to become true equestrians as they gain skills and knowledge in all realms of horses. The ranch program includes trail rides, rodeo events, gymkhana games, vaulting, english and western horsemanship, and basic horse care. We are looking for enthusiastic, horse knowledgeable individuals that can help facilitate daily ranch activities along with games and other fun projects for our participants. A strong understanding of tack for all disciplines is preferable. Some of the Ranch Specialists’ duties will include leading horses, teaching lessons, feeding, grooming, cleaning, the preparation of the facility and horses, and maintenance of riding equipment.
