Larry Butler first learned about Ascendigo six years ago when he and his wife, Marla, were looking for a way to get their daughter, Folbe, skiing during their family winter vacations in Snowmass. In August 2016, Larry, Marla, and their three children moved from Santa Monica to Aspen, primarily for the educational experience the Aspen Public Schools could provide Folbe. Marla had attended Aspen schools from 5th through 10th grade and the family loves the mountains.
Shortly after their move, Larry was invited to serve on Ascendigo’s Board of Directors. Predominantly a real estate investor, Larry’s background in finance is particularly helpful in his role as head of the finance committee. He is dedicated to establishing a foundation, as well as new sources of funding.
“Ascendigo’s role in making the Roaring Fork Valley an autism-friendly place makes participating on the board exciting,” Larry said. He further explained the importance of having local people on the board to help and meet face-to-face as the organization grows.
Originally from New York, Larry enjoys experiencing four seasons again after 20 years in Southern California. He loves to ski, golf, run, and hike. This winter he added a new sport — skinning uphill on Aspen’s beautiful ski mountains.
